Brand New OMG-Gotta-Have-It Hair Product!!! "BUMPITS"

So anyone who knows me knows that I love to play with my hair and makeup. The only problem I deal with OVER AND OVER is my damn hair ALWAYS seems to go flat within an hour of styling.

This is an especially huge problem when I DJ weddings, because I have to lug heavy equipment into the venue and set it up (another reason I like to bring a packhorse to help - usually my dad). How can a girl be expected to do all that manual labor and still look pretty when the party starts?

(I guess I wasn't the "normal" type of girl...lol!!)

Ronnie's 1st Silver Medal!

I am SO proud of my kid!

He's been wrestling for 3 years and he has always done his best. However, the highest he has ever placed in a tournament is 3rd - or a bronze medal.

Saturday - he got his 1st silver!! Way to go, kiddo!!

A Dog's Purpose

This was emailed to me today. It made me tear up, so I'm passing it along.

Written by a veterinarian, very sweet, and oh-so true!!

One day, I had been called to examine a ten-year-old Irish Wolf hound named Belker. The dog's owners, Ron, his wife Lisa, and their little boy Shane, were all very attached to Belker, and they were hoping for a miracle.I examined Belker and found he was dying of cancer. I told the family we couldn't do anything for Belker, and offered to perform the euthanasia procedure for the old dog in their home.

As we made arrangements, Ron and Lisa told me they thought it would be good for six-year-old Shane to observe the procedure. They felt as though Shane might learn something from the experience.

The next day, I felt the familiar catch in my throat as Belker's family surrounded him. Shane seemed so calm, petting the old dog for the last time, that I wondered if he understood what was going on. Within a few minutes, Belker slipped peacefully away.The little boy seemed to accept Belker's transition without any difficulty or confusion.

We sat together for a while after Belker's Death, wondering aloud about the sad fact that animal lives are shorter than human lives. Shane, who had been listening quietly, piped up, 'I know why.'

Startled, we all turned to him. What came out of his mouth next stunned me. I'd never heard a more comforting explanation.

He said, 'People are born so that they can learn how to live a good life--like loving everybody all the time and being nice, right?'

The six-year-old continued, 'Well, dogs already know how to do that, so they don't have to stay as long.'

Live simply.

Love generously.

Care deeply.

Speak kindly.

Remember, if a dog was the teacher you would learn things like:

When loved ones come home, always run to greet them.

Never pass up the opportunity to go for a joyride.

Allow the experience of fresh air and the wind in your face to be pure Ecstasy.

Take naps.

Stretch before rising.

Run, romp, and play daily.

Thrive on attention and let people touch you.

Avoid biting when a simple growl will do.

On warm days, stop to lie on your back on the grass.

On hot days, drink lots of water and lie under a shady tree.

Please Educate Thyself! Regarding Politics and Nonsense...

An email sent to all of my address book this morning, and now here for the world (or all 3 of my readers) to see!

I am SO tired of the emails making claims like "Obama is a muslim!" "Obama is going to bring terrorists here if he's elected!"

I guess it goes without saying that these are normally sent by people who get the majority of their political info from something that starts with "FWD:"

Before you forward this stuff on, PLEASE check into the background of it. If you can't bring yourself to sit through the news and follow ongoing campaign coverage, at least take a couple of minutes to google it, or go to a reputable news web site...or even the candidates' web sites.

If you can't tell, I've become engrossed in this election. Debates, campaign researching, even party fund raisers have become a night out for me!

For those of you who have known me for a while, that probably comes as a shock, lol...I used to be the most passive person ever about politics. However, after the last 8 years of nonsense, and looking at where our country is now, I think everyone should take an active interest for sure. (Please?)

When my brother and I made the road trip to Virginia this weekend, he had a song on CD that made me laugh hysterically every time I played it. Which I think was approximatelty 72 times in that 6 hour trip.

Then we played it for Julie, and she loved it...and it's now become our favorite inside reference/joke.

So Bunnie sent me a link to this new site, Twitter. She sends me many links, most of which I ignore. (Sorry, babe. lol) But - for some odd reason, I felt compelled to visit this one.

Now, I'm addicted. It seems the sole purpose of this site is to check up on your friends. I made a slogan for them - and they can have it, royalty free...."Twitter...for the stalker in all of us."

Shaving Doesn't Have To Suck: A Real-Life Comparison Of Razors By The Fairest Skinned Moose

So I'm a sensitive girl. Well, at least my SKIN is! When it comes to shaving, it can be the pits. (Armpit pun intended.)

I have spent many a buck on razors, as I always have to try the newest one! Here you will find my thoughts and feelings on each. Stock pictures stolen from the 'Net are used here, as Mr. Moose took the camera to work today. (My PINK Sony Cybershot - wonder how THAT's going over with the guys??)

1) Shick Quattro for Women.

Price: Unknown, husband bought it for me. (Awww)

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars!

Pros: The hot pink colored rubber grippy rocks my girly socks, and it left NO afterburn, even when I shaved with cheap-ass soap. With 4 blades and conditioning strips, along with a super sweet aerodynamic design (because I often consider shaving in wind tunnels...??), this razor is my favorite!

Cons: I ran out of blades. Gotta get more. *Mental Post-it*

2) Venus Embrace.

Price: Approx $10 at Wal Mart for the G2G ("Girl-2-Goddess") Starter kit...included sweet satin zip bag which is awesome for makeup, razor, 2 blades, and a small Skintimate Shave gel in Avocado.

Rating: 4 of 5 stars

Pros: Sweet colors. (Teal and lime green) 5 thin blades made for a super smooth shave! Squishy gel grip is neat-o.

Cons: The place where I naturally put my index finger when I shave is also the button to pop the damn blade off when you change it. Made for a few aggravating tub searches for the blade that was swirling around my naked ass, all the while hoping I didn't sit on it. Gay little "Shower pod" suction cup didn't stay on my shower wall.

3) Schick Silk Effects Summer Limited Edition.

The picture shown isn't the one I have, I bought a pretty bright reddish orange with flowers on it, a limited edition design. I admit it, I'm a sucker for pretty packaging. Don't judge me.

Price: Going from memory, but about $5 at Wal Mart?

Rating: 1 out of 5 stars, and that's mainly for the pretty design.

Pros: Wire-wrapped blades did OK at preventing nicks or cuts.

Cons: Again, shower holder didn't work on my lightly textured plastic tile-wanna-be wall. Gave me razor burn like no tomorrow. If you shave your lady garden, steer clear of this one for landscaping, for it's much like using a Craftsman weedwhacker down there.

4) Shick Intuition.

I remember trying this when it first came out and I thought I liked it. Either they changed it a lot since then, or my memory sucks like a Hoover.

Price: Reg. $9.99, purchased for $3.99 on clearance during week 2 of Alli's hospital stay - I figured it HAD to be better than last week's razor nightmare. (See review below)

Rating: 2 out of 5 stars

Pros: No need to get shaving cream or gel, it's one big block of skin-smoothing goodness. The razor is nestled right in the middle.

Cons: NOT a close shave by any stretch. I had stubble all over. Also, when shaving the lady garden, this thing is like trying to maneuver a 2x4 down there. Not very fun.

5) Bic Comfort Triple Blade - Berry Scented.

Excuse me? BERRY SCENTED? That got a big old "WTF" from me, out loud in the store. My husband was only slightly embarrassed. (You would think after over 5 years of marriage, he'd be used to it...)

I'm not sure which is worse...the scent of a new pool toy mixed with skunky wine, or the fact that SOMEONE said, "Dude, we should make a razor...THAT SMELLS LIKE FRUIT." And BAM, they're rich. I have shitty ideas every day, and I never get even halfway rich from them.

Price: $2.99 for a pack of ten at Walgreen's - purchased while Alli was in the hospital and I was broke. It was the next cheapest option above drugstore brand single blade disposables. *shudder*

Rating: Can I give negative stars?

Pros: Once you leave it in a suitcase for a few days, the "Fresh Berry Scent" is gone.

Cons: NOTHING GOOD CAN COME FROM SPENDING less than $3 on razors. Nothing. My legs were bleeding everywhere. Nicks here, cuts there. I was so not impressed.
